Domestic Abuse and Harmful Practices – Wirral Change Training

Wirral Change are providing two domestic abuse and harmful practices training courses in February and March 2024:

Supporting Survivors of Domestic Abuse and Harmful Practices from Marginalised Communities

This is 2-hour online training for professionals. The goal of this training is to help professionals understand and contextualize the lived experiences of marginalised survivors of domestic abuse. The training also aims to situate harmful practices within a wider global context of violence against women and girls, and to shed light on intersections between various forms of oppression and marginalization.

Minority Ethnic Women’s Advocate Course

This is 2 half days training. The aim of the “Minority Ethnic Women’s Advocate” training program is to train English-speaking members of minority ethnic communities, as well as professionals working with women, in advocacy around minority ethnic women’s issues. The training consists of a basic training module and a practical component.

Trained “Minority Ethnic Women’s Advocates” will be confident in using the session handouts to inform, empower, and advocate for women in their community.

This training is delivered by Wirral Change and supported by Family Toolbox. The training is free of charge and the availability of places is limited. Places will be allocated based on recommendations from service managers.

Training dates and times:

1st cohort: 25th and 26th March 2024, 9.30 am to 2.30 pm.

2nd cohort 27th and 28th March 2024, 9.30 am to 2.30 pm.

Practical component: 1-hour long awareness session to be delivered in pairs, organized by the training provider between 8th March and 8th April.
