Spotlight Sessions
The WSCP safeguarding Spotlight Sessions are part of our training and learning offer to professionals.
Spotlight Sessions are short single topic safeguarding briefings delivered virtually via Microsoft Teams. Sessions will be delivered 3 or 4 times, and briefings on different topics will be delivered throughout the year. Please note, these are short briefing sessions not training, therefore attendance certificates will not be provided.
WSCP presents two open access spotlight sessions as part of Social Work Week 2024:
Working Together 2023 and Implications for Practice
An online presentation of 1 hour aimed at all stakeholders interested in understanding the key features of the Working Together statutory guidance, responsibilities of practitioners and organisations and how it should help shape practice.

An online presentation of 1 hour aimed at all stakeholders interested in how children’s social care should be shaped going forward and the skills required of those in statutory children’s services and the wider partnership.

Peri natal mental health and the impact
on parenting
Delivered by a colleague from Health these sessions will cover the following objectives:
• Peri natal mental health and the types of mental health that can develop in the peri natal period.
• Signs and indicators of peri natal mental health and the treatment and management of peri natal mental health.
• The toxic trio / ACE’s that are often attached to parental mental health.
• The impact on parenting / the impact on the child
• The importance of a holistic family approach
• Working in a multi-agency forum with Social Care cases where parental mental health has been a predominant issue for the
child.
• Case reviews of significant child abuse and child mortality where parental mental health has been identified as parental issue.
These sessions will be delivered on Teams and booking is necessary for these sessions. Please note these are 3 different sessions:
Session 1 peri natal mental health 4th March 2024 3-4pm
Session 2 the impact on parenting 18th March 12-1pm
Session 3 case studies 26th March 3-4pm
Ketamine Use in Young People
Delivered by a colleague from Response these sessions will cover the following objectives:
- The timeline of Ketamine and prevalence on Wirral
- What is Ketamine? Is it just for horses??
- How Ketamine affects the body
- How are young people are accessing Ketamine
- Short and long term effects of using
- Ketamine Bladder Syndrome
- What support is available to Ketamine users and how to refer—Response and Partners working together to support Young people on Wirral
