Private Fostering Briefing (looking after someone elses child)
This is a 90 minute briefing which defines Private Fostering and details professionals and agency responsibilities.
A Private Fostering arrangement is one where a child under the age of 16 (under 18 if disabled) is cared for by someone who is not their parent or a ‘close relative’ for 28 days or more. People who are looking after a child in a Private Fostering arrangement are required by law to notify the Local Authority and professionals have a duty to refer any Private Fostering arrangements they become aware of.
